The post that just wouldn't happen

You may have been asking yourself where we have been and I am sorry for the absence, but a six month old and seven puppies, just seems to fill up my already full day. Yep, that's right puppies! They were born on January 1st and they were eight of them. We noticed on their second day, that one of the male's, just wasn't doing great, so we weighed him and he was losing weight, not gaining. That is when we started feeding him every two hours for three nights. One day I got a good look into his mouth and and noticed it looked like he had a cleft palate. Darin took him to the vet the next day and he left him there to be put down because it was a losing battle that we were trying to fight. It was sad, but a little bit of a relief knowing that no matter how hard we could have tried to save him, he probably would not have made it anyway. So, we were left with six females and one male. They are all four of the colors that Australian Shepherds can be, red tri, black tri, blue merle, and red merle. We are really excited about them and have already been told that they are exceptional puppies.

The same day that Darin took the puppy to the vet, I took Caily to the doctor for her six month check up. All is going well and she is healthy. She weighed in at 16lbs 10oz (58%) and measured around 26.25 inches. I don't know where that is in the percentale because the nurse measured her a little long. When the doctor came in he said we needed to measure her again because she was measuring quite tall, and actually was about an inch shorter.

She is doing well these days, getting really good at sitting, waving and saying da da. She is such a joy, I love walking into her room in the morning and being greeted by her smile, she has the best smile and hands them out quite liberally. I especially love when she scrunches up her whole face because she is smiling so big and puts her gums together. She is still not crawling, but that is alright, I think the hardwood is a little bit of a deterrent.

Anyway, I really should be doing dishes while Caily is sleeping, but I have been trying to post for the last week and finally everything came together right, so I just had to get it done.

The liitle guy that didn't make it.

What do you do while your parents are busy nursing a puppy? Why, play in a box of course!

Sorry about the grainyness of this video, I decided to post it anyway because I actually captured Caily doing her newest tricks, waving and saying da da.

Thanks for finally posting Jods! I love the little pups...so little and blind! And Caily...well what can I say, she is precious, and cute and smart besides! But then I am just a wee bit biased.

Hey Jody~ it was good to see you last night! I can't believe you have puppies. It reminds me of our journey five years ago...we had a litter of 10 when Caitlyn was 7 months...so fun but also a lot of work...I remember well. We will have to get together soon! Blessings

Very Cute Jods. She is growing up so fast! Gotta love it.
The puppies are way too cute too. Can't wait to hear how they continue to do.

She is adorable. Jackson is six months today. Where does the time go. The puppies are nice. If I were swinging through Texas I'd pick one up. On second thought. Three dogs would be too much to handle. I hope you guys are doing well. We wish you the best starting off the new year.
