As of yesterday morning, we have a new baby on the ranch. It is the first baby to have been born on the ranch and the mother, Cookie, caught us all by surprise. She wasn't due until the 15th and she didn't give the normal signs of going into labor. We say her at around 9:30 on Saturday night and she had her baby around 7:30 Sunday morning. The miracle of birth is incredible, how everything normally goes smoothly and God has created animals with the knowledge of what to do, He has everything under control, including the little guy knowing that he is suppose to nurse and searching all around for the milk. It was rather humorous as Rachelle and I watched as he tried sucking on all sorts of his mother's body, like her legs, stomach and the udder itself. Finally he found what he was looking for and has gotten the hang of nursing. He is the cutest little thing, quite spunky for his age already. We don't have a name yet, but I am sure that will come with time. These pictures are from his first time outside this morning, we all laughed as he tried out his legs and was thrilled to find out that he could run around and run he did, all around his mom and us. Anyway, I just wanted to share some pictures of what is going on at the ranch. Oh, I almost forgot, we think that his blaze looks like an exclamation point, the dot is a little less bright, but it is there on his nose.

He is way too cute! And he waited until the new year to be born! How exciting.....so much fun! But then all babies are! :-) Whether sheep, cattle, horses or human!
That is one cute colt! Maybe you should name him "exclamation point!" It doesn't have a very nice ring to it, but I'm sure you could work with that! :o) Anyways, hope you guys are doing well & healthy!
How about just calling him Exclaim! I thought that would be a great name for him!
