Third Trimester and New Additions
Well, I am now in the last third of my pregnancy, exciting, yet a little scary at the same time. The little one seems to be growing every day and I will find out tomorrow how much I have grown at my doctor's appointment. In church yesterday, we started 2 Timothy and our pastor was talking about how we would be in the book for thirteen weeks and I was thinking that our little one might be here before we are done 2 Timothy. It is weird to put a time on it like that, it use to seem so far away and I am sure it will still feel that way at times, but to know that I might miss the end of the book because of the little one is an exciting thought. She is very active and loves to move when I sit down for the night, she has started to push out with what seems to be her bottom, which is a rather strange feeling. Sometimes when she moves it surprises me with how strong she is getting and how she is able to move my stomach.
As for new additions to the ranch, we had one this last week, a new horse. He was born sometime early Thursday morning and is oh so cute. He looks very similar to his brother from last year, which we are excited about because colorful horses seem to sell better than the regular brown horse. I am always amazed at the miracle of birth, especially how animals seem to know exactly what to do and are transformed into a mother in moments without any instructions.
On Saturday, we went up to Fort Worth to the Super Stakes, which is a large horse show and sale. Darin was interested in a couple of the horses, as well as seeing which horses were selling well and what prices they were going for. So, Rachelle, Darin and myself piled into the car around 3 am and headed off for the the day. We were in Fort Worth for nine hours and then headed home, where we were greeted by some very excited puppies. Speaking of puppies, Sky is doing quite well, adjusting well and has already improved in coming to her name. We kind of forget that she is still a puppy sometimes because she is bigger, but she reminds us when we forget. For example, she has a funny habit of moving my shoes, I say funny because she doesn't chew them, just moves them around. I have a pair of sandals outside our door and since she has been here, they have yet to stay where I put them. Jake and her get along very well and so far Jake hasn't been too jealous, which is always a good thing. We have enjoyed having two dogs, although at times it is difficult, especially when trying to get them to do two different things. Jake just does any command he hears, so we are working on using names, but at times it is rather humorous the result. Last night I was trying to get Sky in her pen and Jake to sit, while in the end, Sky was sitting and Jake was in her pen, all I could do was laugh and get Darin to call Jake, so that I could work with Sky.
This is a picture of Darin trying to "bond" with Sky, by placing his hat on her head. It is rather funny to watch Darin trying to get her to play because she is not like Jake and is rather unsure of how to play.
